Why a CJ7 body rusts from the inside out.
Introduced in 1976, the CJ7 was the first CJ with a longer wheelbase and optional full steel doors – a step forward structurally, but a permanent battle against corrosion. The bolted steel tub sits on a ladder frame, and moisture collects exactly at those joints over the decades: footwell floor panels, the rear body corners, the wheel housings and the fender mounting areas rust from the inside out, often long before anything shows on the surface. On top of that come the mechanical wear points every CJ owner knows – worn door hinge bushings, windshield frames distorted by open-top driving, dash pads cracked by UV exposure and hood catches seized by rust. Restoring the body does more than fix cosmetics: it restores the rigidity of the whole vehicle and protects its value.
From a single floor panel to the complete tub
- Tub, side panels & floor sections: a complete body tub with embossed side panels for a full restoration, plus side panels, body corners, wheel housings and individual front footwell floor panels for spot repairs.
- Front end, fenders & hood: front left fender and right in primer, hood, hood catches, prop rod plus the complete front radiator grille with headlight bezels and retaining rings.
- Windshield frame & glass: windshield frame kit including seals, hinge screws and footman loops, together with the matching green tinted windshield glass or the clear version, plus stainless steel wiper arms.
- Doors, hinges & locking hardware: door hinge set in black powder-coated stainless steel, Delrin bushings, paddle handles in black and chrome, lock cylinders with keys and the window regulator kit for the left full steel door.
- Mirrors, bumpers & protection: black powder-coated mirror set with arms and heads available separately, trail mirrors, bumperettes, tail light guards and the drilled front bumper in polished stainless steel.
- Emblems, dash pads & hardware: the authentic „CJ-7" emblem, AMC flag emblem, dash pads in black and gray, fender flares with hardware kit and the 620-piece stainless steel screw kit for a complete rebuild.

The large sheet metal panels – tub, fenders, hood, windshield frame, tailgate and wheel housings – come from MD Juan, the Philippine specialist for CJ body steel.
