Why a CJ7 soft top gives out at the windows and zippers first.
On a Jeep CJ7, a complete soft top is the compromise between hardtop protection and open-air feel: fabric, windows and doors enclose the cabin, yet can be opened or removed entirely in a few steps. The weak points are exactly where the material moves. UV light and cold turn vinyl windows cloudy and brittle, especially when they are rolled up at low temperatures. Zippers lose teeth, seams along the tension edges come apart and snap fasteners tear out of the fabric. After years outdoors the material also shrinks slightly, so doors and rear window no longer seal properly. The result is draughts in the cabin, rain entering along the top of the doors and flapping panels chafing against the frame. Patches rarely last – only a new top restores proper fit and weather sealing.

- Safari-style Tigertop: The Tigertop in Black Crush has snap fasteners, clear windows and one-piece soft doors. The side and rear windows roll up, and it fits the CJ7 from 1976 to 1986.
- Supertop with clear windows: Zip-out windows, a roll-up rear window and a powder-coated frame, available in Black Denim, Black Crush, Tan Denim and Spice Denim.
- Supertop with tinted windows: Tinted windows keep sun and heat out of the cabin, in either Black Denim or Spice Denim.
- Supertop including 2-piece doors: The complete package with upper and lower soft door halves comes in Black Denim, in Black Denim with tinted windows and in Spice Denim. Model years 1976 to 1980 also have their own Black Denim version.
- Tinted replacement windows: If you want to keep your top and only renew the windows, window kits with rear window and both side windows are available for the Supertop and the Sunrider flip-back top, each in Black Denim.
