Body Parts for Jeep CJ5
Fenders, Hood & Body Panels in OE Quality (1955–1971).
Why the Jeep CJ5 Body Shows Rust and Wear After Decades of Use.
The body of the Jeep CJ5 is built almost entirely from sheet steel between 1955 and 1971 – a rugged but rust-prone design that shows clear wear after decades of off-road and daily use. Floor pans and footwell repair panels in particular suffer from moisture, road spray and de-icing salt, while fenders and body side panels develop holes and cracks from stone chips and corrosion around the wheel arches. Windshield frames warp over time or seize up at the hinges through rust, and seals around the windshield and cowl harden and start to leak. Hood catches and tie-down loops loosen from vibration, mirror arms and heads wear out from UV exposure and mechanical stress. Even smaller but important parts like wiper arms, handles and footman loops wear down noticeably over the years. Anyone restoring their CJ5 or still driving it daily should regularly check the body for rust, loose fasteners and leaking seals.
