Body Electrical Parts Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ WG
Headlights, Tail Lights, Mirrors & Window Regulators for Visibility, Safety and Comfort (1999–2004)
Where the Grand Cherokee WJ's Body Electrics Fail First: Windows, Mirrors and Lights
The Grand Cherokee WJ is a comfort-oriented SUV: power windows on all four doors, heated power mirrors (with memory on higher trims) and a steering wheel with airbag and control buttons. After more than twenty years, this comfort electrics is exactly where the weak spots show. Window regulator motors and guides wear out until the glass judders or drops into the door. The airbag clockspring in the steering wheel breaks over time. The airbag warning light then comes on, and the horn or steering wheel buttons may stop working. Headlight and tail light housings age from UV exposure and moisture. On top of that, the WJ has a peculiarity: US and EU vehicles use different tail lights, and imported vehicles need a rear fog light to be registered in Germany.
From High-Beam Bulb to Window Regulator Motor
- Headlights & bulbs: Limited-style headlights for US and Canadian models, 9005XS high-beam bulbs and 9006XS low-beam bulbs, plus the engine compartment light bulb.
- Fog lights & rear fog light: Front fog lights as a pair or individually for left and right (1999–2003), the matching bulbs and an E-marked rear fog light for converting imported vehicles.
- Tail lights & reverse light: EU-style tail lights with four chambers, the left one with an integrated rear fog light, US-style tail lights with three chambers for 1999–2001 and a universal reverse light.
- Power mirrors: heated mirrors with memory function and versions without memory, each for left and right.
- Window regulators with motor: complete assemblies for all four doors, split by production date. For vehicles built up to 03/09/2000 there is, for example, the front right regulator, and for later models the rear left regulator.
- Steering wheel & brake pedal: the airbag clockspring for 2002–2004 and the brake light switch on the pedal.
Crown for Lights and Mirrors, Dorman for the Window Regulators
Most of the range comes from Crown Automotive: headlights, fog lights, tail lights, power mirrors, bulbs and the airbag clockspring. All window regulator assemblies are made by Dorman, and the brake light switch by Standard Ignition. All three are US brands. The rear fog light and reverse light come from Hella, German lighting technology with E-mark approval.
EU or US Version? We Match Lights and Window Regulators to Your WJ
Which version fits depends on the part: for tail lights it is the market version, for window regulators the production date around March 2000, and for mirrors the memory option. Send us your VIN or a photo of the installed part and we'll tell you which version you need. We're also happy to advise on retrofitting a rear fog light. Your order is dispatched promptly from stock in Germany.
